Photographs of Wear and Tear to The Church Tower Walls April 2009

Scaffolding has been erected in order to instal the new bells and the tower walls have been inspected. Not good news - the walls were thought to be in a bad state, but nothing like this. There are major stones that need replacing and the cost will be far in excess of the original estimate. This is a task that can easily be dealt with by our stonemasons, but at a considerable cost. We do have the reserves to deal with this, but it will leave us with very little to carry forward as a buffer in case other works need to be tackled urgently.
